Some of you might recall the story of Dallas the goat posted on our Facebook page this year. In December 2012, Dallas climbed his fence the evening of our Christmas party. It was dark, and he ran over to the neighbor’s dog and accidentally startled him. Frightened, the dog slipped out of his loose collar and mauled Dallas’ rear back leg.
The neighbors called us immediately, and we instructed them to put Dallas in the car and bring him right over. He was cold, unable to stand or lift his head, and was in shock from pain and blood loss.
We sprang into action and put a jugular catheter in him for IV (intravenous fluids) treatment, pain medicatons and antibiotics.
Remarkably, Dallas stabilized. After four long months, we were able to miraculously save his leg. He and his baby momma, Stella, were able to see their March babies (kids) born this spring.
Dallas weighed in at 60 lbs. then and is at 80 lbs. now. We neutered him recently because he was trying to jump fences to breed and get into trouble again.
The big announcement is we hear Dallas is going to be a Dad again!
