All dogs should be vaccinated against kennel cough, otherwise known as Bordatella. We used to only vaccinate dogs that went to the groomer, kennel, park, or pet store. Now, more than ever, because of the canine flu, all dogs should be vaccinated twice yearly. It is as easy as a simple nose drop.
Canine flu causes the same symptoms as kennel cough, but if not treated or diagnosed early, enough can kill our dogs. Canine flu has spread from Florida to New Jersey quickly over the last nine months of 2006. Actually, Somerset County is the county most affected.
The state and all veterinarians now recommend vaccinating. If you notice your dog coughing for more than one day or so, please let us know so we can treat your dog.
